Financial Freedom

What is financial freedom? Why should I try to achieve financial freedom?

Financial freedom may look different for each person, but in general, financial freedom means having control over your finances rather than fear. By handling your money wisely and working hard to reach and maintain financial freedom, you will not only be able to pay bills without any anxiety but also be able to give generously to causes that matter to you. You can meet the needs of others, pursue a career that you love, and take care of your family’s future. This is what God wants for you in your finances!

Here are some resources that can help in your journey to financial freedom:

  • Spent - check out our latest sermon series dealing with using money wisely.
  • Financial Event Powerpoint - View the slides from Pastor Scott’s financial seminar that followed the Spent series.
  • I Was Broke Now I’m Not - This website offers resources (both free and for purchase) based on Joseph Sangl’s book.

Levels of Giving

There are different levels of giving, and we encourage everyone to determine where you’re at and take the next step. When we all do that, imagine the impact we can make together in our church, in our community, and around the world.

Tithing reflects a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us, and is typically considered 10% of income. Tithing is a form of worship that allows us to show God that He is first in our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 that “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” All tithes go into our general fund which is used to resource our church and pay for things such as electric and water bills, staff salaries, general ministry, and other operating expenses.

We also have the opportunity to give an offering, which is an amount over and above the 10% tithe. At GT Church, those offerings can be given through Project Impact. If you’re interested in making a bigger impact with your giving, learn more here.
